Private Concert

for Loungeworks

Scope:
This project required the transformation of an existing venue into an exclusive concert experience for a party of 30 guests. Three spaces were designed for the group, featuring a reception bar, a dining lounge, and a premier concert theatre, as well as an additional ‘green room’  for the headline musician and VIP guests. In this project I was responsible for the design, illustrations, and technical drawings, as well as creative dierction and vendor management throughout execution.

The clients' description of the event was as an exclusive and high-end 'MTV Unplugged' concert experience, with a predilection for candlelight. The budget priority included an expectation of luxury in every detail, and included the invitation to propose creative without cap.

To this end, a stage set was proposed to coordinate with a ceiling treatment of massive chandeliers and 'art frames', which would dramatically transform the space, and create a sense of intimacy between guests and performer. Massed pillar and floating candle arrangements were used throughout, with theatrical furnishings and sculptural floral displays.

To create contrast and drama, the entry and reception were 'dressed down' and masked from the theatre as guests arrived.

Detailed drawings for execution were generated to coordinate the installation of the ceiling and stage treatments with other decor elements and departments.
